Amanpour’s report on God’s Warriors on August 21, 22, and 23, 2007 informed us that the Muslims are building democratic republics throughout the Middle East. These demo
cratic republics are similar to the US democratic republic in that a monotheistic God, human liberty, and self-government are common to both. One difference is that a Muslim republic has only one religion, Islam, whereas the US republic tolerates all religions. A second difference is that social activities in a Muslim republic are more limited compared to the laissez-faire activities in the US republic. A third difference is the increased materialism of the US republic and the increased spiritualism of the Muslim republic. Increased materialism will place money above God whereas increased spiritualism will place God above money. Interestingly, both republics originate in the works of Moses in the first five books of the Old Testament. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam have thus developed together for a long time but have also become separated in recent times.
I conclude that the cause of their separation has occurred because these religions are not progressing properly. Without developing scientifically, today’s religions do not know the real God that today’s science is revealing. The point is that all of man’s knowledge cannot be extracted from past scriptures. Some of the truths in scriptures are lasting whereas others have short lives. Today’s science books are today’s scriptures. They have some lasting scientific truths. But, some of these truths will soon fade away. This is how man’s knowledge grows and how our consciousness is lifted to higher levels.
In his work, Nicholas of Cusa investigates the maximum of man’s knowledge. He found that the absolute maximum is also the absolute minimum. Since all opposites coincide in God, Nicholas finds that God in absolutely maximum and absolutely minimum. So, man’s knowledge is relativistic and has no end. So, science and scriptures work together, just like a water pump works to supply drinking water for a town of people. Science pumps knowledge out of the minds of scientists. This new knowledge is added to the existing knowledge of man.
Thus, today’s religions must pump the real truths out of their current scriptures. Then, new scriptures must be made with the new and current truths. This teaching is a daily effort at home, at school, and at work. This is the way I see the knowledge-building relationships among all sciences and all religions.
