Remaking America by George Shollenberger, Idea 100 + VIII (Intelligent Design, I)

Remaking America as a nation under God requires all Americans should accept an Intelligent Design of God if a monotheistic God creates, by necessity, the best world of all possible worlds. A best world was identified by Gottfried Leibniz (1646-1716) in his New System. His new system challenged Isaac Newton’s mechanical universe and the meaning of space and time. Leibniz debated his difference from Newton in his correspondence with England’s Samuel Clarke. (See Leibniz’s New Science, etc.) Newton’s Universe was also challenged by Albert Einstein’s relative theory of space.

Many physical scientists today are hanging onto the mechanical universe of Newton by trying to unify the concepts, space and time. In his New System, Leibniz defines space as ‘the order of co-existences’ and time as ‘the order of successions.’ The mechanical universe of physical scientists and Leibniz New System are as different as night and day.

My book, The First Scientific Proof of God, and this website follow the system of Leibniz because I conclude that the universe is formed of things. Since only related things exist in the universe, the universe is not a container, as early Greeks and Jesus Christ taught. Thus, I view God’s Intelligent Design as a design of many related finite things, which have been created by an infinite thing we call God.

Since God’s Intelligent Design does not produce the universe as a container, the universe does not have vacuums and identical things. Instead, each thing in the universe is functionally related to all other things. The universe is thus a well-organized thing. I thus do not believe that this planet is warming. If our planet has a growing hole, this growth is functioning, by necessity, for all things that exist on planet earth, that is, until our sun darkens. In instead of guessing, I suggest that our scientists learn more about God’s Intelligent Design, about how planets work, and how we can travel to other planets and study them.
