Remaking America by George Shollenberger, Idea 100 + X (Intelligent Design, III)
Since God could not be sensed, people thought that God is dead and divided himself by appeared as things in the universe. This religious belief became known as idolatry because people idolized and worshiped physical things and persons. Because some U.S. citizens no longer believe in God, the practice of idolatry and human idols are reappearing in the USA. (Click)
However, the ancient pagans maintained God. They equated God to the forces that they found in Nature. Accordingly, different gods were identified with different forces. This belief, which is called pantheism, thus has many gods.
Since Abraham was the Father of the Faithful among the Jews, he defeated idolatry and developed monotheism. Outside of the Bible, nothing is known about him. When Moses identified his version of God’s Intelligent Design by describing his Genesis of the Old Testament, Moses confirmed Abraham’s monotheism at Deut. 6:4. There, Moses said, ‘The Lord of our God is one Lord.’
Since the word ‘one’ is recognized today in the numbers and symbolic language of every nation, the meaning of ‘one’ must be perfected beyond the meanings given to it in the scriptures. Thus, the meaning of ‘one’ will require further development before our knowledge of monotheism and God’s Intelligent Design can grow.
